The British Royal Family isn’t usually something Americans care much about.

After all, we fought a revolution in 1776 to get out from their inbred corruption and endless drama.

Yet, now and then we glance back across the pond and marvel at just how screwed up things are over there. Now, a piece of that drama has been brought over stateside to reside among us: namely, Prince Harry and his TV star wife Meghan Markle.

In a new interview, Prince Harry has revealed just how bad things got and part of what made him turn against the Royal Family, marry somebody they didn’t like, and move to America.

It’s about the tragic death of his mom Princess Diana and the terrible way the Royal Family treated her.

‘Total Silence and Neglect’

Harry’s mom Princess Di came from a normal British family; she wasn’t royalty even though she married into it by tying the knot with Prince Charles.

The queen and others didn’t necessarily approve of Di; when she later died in a car crash hounded by Paris media in 1997, it devastated young Harry and his brother William.

Yet, instead of getting support, Harry says he was treated like garbage.

“I felt completely helpless,” he said. Harry also added that each “ask, request, [or] warning” was met with “total silence or total neglect.”

Harry says he turned to heavy drinking and drug use in his teens and 20s partly to deal with the angry, sad emotions and the lack of love. Harry said he started going to therapy about four years ago and the documentary shows him doing various therapies including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

Harry talks about all this in his new mental health special with Oprah called The Me You Can’t See.

‘It Makes Me Angry, it Makes My Blood Boil’

Harry and Meghan moved to the U.S. last year and quit the Royal Family. Meghan has said that the issues in the Royal Family and lack of respect she felt made her suicidal; Harry said the media buzz over him makes him enraged.

Harry also stated that the “clicking of cameras” along with camera flashes ‘makes [his] blood boil.” He then explained that because this “takes [him] back to what happened to [his] mum,” it angers him.

Harry then said that what happened with his mom as a kid made him so angry along with “the fact that there was no justice at all.” He then slammed the paparazzi “that chased [Di] through that tunnel” and said images of Di “dying on the backseat of the car” still haunts him to this day.

He’s right that it’s a lot for anyone to deal with, much less a little kid, considering he was only 12 at the time.

Even now that he’s 36, Harry said he feels uncomfortable and nervous around Buckingham Palace and the royal scene.

It’s easy to make fun of Harry and his ultra-progressive social justice wife Meghan. There’s no doubt the liberal media is lapping up his criticisms because of their love of drama and encouraging people to criticize and blame their family for their problems.

Yet, at the end of the day he’s also a human being; we should have compassion for someone who’s had to experience the problems and sickness that defines the Royal Family.
