Vice President Kamala Harris was put in charge of the southern border by President Biden many months ago.

That should help explain to you how things got so bad down there. Don’t worry, though, because Harris is on her way to do some photo ops and shake hands with the leaders of Guatemala and Mexico.

Harris’ first foreign trip to Guatemala and Mexico kicks off Sunday night. She will work to come up with solutions to the border crisis and slow down the stream of illegal immigrants leaving these countries to try to enter the United States.

Let’s be honest:

This isn’t a simple issue for anyone and Harris isn’t personally to blame for what’s been happening. The Democrats decided to dismantle Trump’s wall and work against the best interests of America, but you can’t put that all on Harris herself.

Still, there are specific reasons that this foreign trip isn’t going to be easy for her. One is the President of Guatemala Alejandro Giammattei.

‘A Structural Issue’

An unnamed senior Biden Administration official pointed out that illegal immigration is a “structural issue” and won’t be easily solved or fixed in a matter of months. Still, the aide said that Harris meeting one-on-one will be useful and she can then start to look for real solutions.

Harris will arrive first in Guatemala City to meet with conservative President Giammattei. Giammattei has recently accused the US of backing far-left judicial figures in his country and messing up its internal politics.

So, you can guess how happy he’ll be to see a far-left wingbat from the US show up to try to get people to stop illegally immigrating out of his country. All I can say is practice your fake smile, my friend.

Harris will spend Monday in Guatemala. She’ll then head to Mexico on Tuesday to meet up with its populist President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Amlo).

Mexico has an election on June 6 and is deeply unstable; good luck to Harris in solving illegal immigration on Tuesday.

Pay People Not to Leave Their Country?

One idea to pay Guatemalans not to leave the country has raised a lot of eyebrows, especially at a time when Americans are struggling. Yet, that’s the Democrat playbook after all: spending taxpayer money to help everyone except patriotic, working families.

Harris has done nothing to fix the issue so far. Guatemala and Mexico are both extremely corrupt, unstable, and unreliable.

When you give away all your bargaining chips by undermining the amazing work done by President Trump, you end up in an extremely disadvantaged position.

Good luck, Kamala.
