Several days ago cancel culture struck again. Actress and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Gina Carano was dropped from the Disney Plus show the Mandalorian after saying that Nazis are bad and people shouldn’t be so mean to each other.
The right-leaning star has also criticized the effectiveness of masks, the second impeachment of President Trump and made it clear she’s not onboard the progressive crazy train, including mocking gender pronouns in her bio.
But the tweet which got her fired referred to the Holocaust and talked about how the Nazis were only able to start mass killing Jews after already having dehumanized them to their neighbors and fellow citizens.
Carano warned that America needs to be careful not to let our political divisions erase the humanity of our opponents. She included a photo of Jews being chased by Nazis.
The post was stupid and not a realistic comparison, but it wasn’t “racist” as her employers claimed. Either way, she lost her job.
But now there’s good news for Carano on the horizon, after conservative news site the Daily Wire announced it is partnering with Carano in order for her to “produce and star in an upcoming film exclusively for Daily Wire members.”
Carano Reacts With Joy
Carano reacted to the news with joy, saying it’s part of a lifelong dream.
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano said, adding “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
While Carano’s spirit here is admirable, her claim is questionable. Going from a massive distribution company like Disney Plus to a small right wing outlet is not exactly “a direct message of hope.”
The Daily Wire seized on the Carano firing to make a buck, offering 25% off for new member who use the code GINA, with editor in chief Ben Shapiro offering support for her on social media.

What Will the Film be About?
Details of the film that Carano will make with the Daily Wire have not yet been released. The movie will only be available to Daily Wire subscribers and reportedly will stick it to the Hollywood left. Considering Carano’s MMA skills, perhaps the new movie will feature some kind of fighting, but beyond that it’s hard to guess exactly what it might be about.
In her role as Cara Dune on the Mandalorian, Carano attracted a large fan following, but her social media posts started to draw criticism and the final straw came when she appeared to be comparing being a Jew in Holocaust Germany to being a Conservative in Biden’s America.
Either way the bottom line is that this film does not “undo” Carano’s cancellation as it won’t be nearly on the scale of a Disney Plus production. At the same time it’s still a step forward, if a quality and engaging film can be made that actually starts to get people’s attention and ends up having a broader reach than just the Daily Wire subscriber base.
If Shapiro and Carano can end up making a movie that’s decent with conservative principles that uphold liberty and the American way then they could make a dent in cancel culture and show that the left isn’t the boss of everything you can do and say in 2021 America.
