Trump supporters are not in the mood for hugging it out. They’re angry and not shy about letting it be known.
The latest person on the receiving end of MAGA backers was Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, who got on a flight from Atlanta to DC and was greeted by chants of “traitor! traitor!” from a number of Trump supporters.
The video posted on social media had all sorts of comments from disapproval to strong support.

A Bad Day for Mitt
It’s fair to say that Jan. 5 was a bad day for Mitt. Earlier at the airport he was also approached by a Trump supporter who demanded to know why Romney isn’t backing Trump.
The Senator has made headlines in recent weeks for dismissing Trump’s claims of election fraud and saying that Trump’s behavior is unacceptable for a president. He also drew media attention last summer for marching in a protest with Black Lives Matter extremists, the only Republican to do so.
On the airplane as people chanted a woman also shouted that “we want to know your connection to Burisma and Joe Biden.” The Senator didn’t respond in any way.
Romney to MAGA: Biden Won, Deal With it
On Jan. 4 Romney and a group of Democratic and Republican senators put out a statement saying clearly that they believe Joe Biden won the presidential election and making it crystal clear that they consider Republicans like Josh Hawley and others who plan to object to certifying the results on Wednesday in the Senate to be on the wrong track.
According to Romney, people are objecting to the results just to boost their political stature among Trump’s base and it “dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic.”
Trump supporters were outraged by Romney’s remarks and it’s no surprise that he caught some heat on the plane.
Nothing New for Romney
Accusations of being a Republican in Name Only (RINO) and a sellout who hasn’t backed the President are nothing new for Romney. He’s also been dogged by criticism by President Trump, who’s repeatedly mocked him for “choking” and losing the 2012 election to Barack Obama.
When he was approached by the Trump supporter in the airport Romney did answer with a few words, saying that while he’s supported “many of the things he’s for” he won’t be backing Trump on the investigation of vote fraud because “we have a Constitution.”
“The Constitutional process is clear. I’ll follow the Constitution and I’ll explain all of that when we meet in Congress this week,” Romney said to the woman at the airport.
She wasn’t impressed and told him:
“You’re a joke, an absolute joke, it’s a disgusting shame.”
For his part, Trump has lashed out increasingly at those who won’t stand behind his election investigations and claims of fraud, calling them RINOs and weak people. In a recent tweet he called out everyone who’s not backing him and referred to gathering crowds of protesters there to demand that the election not be stolen from him.
“I hope the Democrats, and even more importantly, the weak and ineffective RINO section of the Republican Party, are looking at the thousands of people pouring into D.C. They won’t stand for a landslide election victory to be stolen,” Trump tweeted.
So far no substantial court case brought by Team Trump has proven vote fraud, although video evidence and other concerns have been brought to light by Trump supporters and lawyers to support their claim of fraud. Critics say the video of apparent vote fraud in Fulton County, Georgia, for example, was deceptively edited, while supporters say it clearly shows the vote count being manipulated.
What do you think? Was the election stolen? Does Romney deserve the criticism he’s getting?
