When you think of the constitutionally protected right to bear arms, California and other blue states are not usually the first places that come to mind.
However, that could be changing, thanks to a landmark federal ruling in the Golden State. This ruling overturned a three-decade “assault weapon” ban for being against the Second Amendment. He issued a permanent injunction that goes into effect in a month.
Don’t like it? Don’t live in America, then.
As US District Judge Roger Benitez said, the Second Amendment is non-negotiable; California gun owners have the same legal rights as all American gun owners.
Guns like AR-15 rifles aren’t some scary bogeyman. As Benitez noted, they’re an ideal tool for “home defense” and “homeland defense,” and are well-suited for “both home and battle.”
Details of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit challenging restrictions on AR-15s and “assault weapons” was made by the San Diego County Gun Owners Political Action Committee, the California Gun Rights Foundation, and the Second Amendment Foundation and Firearms Policy Coalition.
California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country, not to mention their laws on ammunition and other basics.

Blue states like California more or less have the ideology that scary-looking guns are inherently murderous and just start killing people.
They ignore the epidemic of inner-city handgun violence; instead, they focus on high-powered rifles and the danger of mentally ill people getting ahold of them (which has nothing to do with them being legal).
Benitez challenged this liberal lack of logic, noting that rifles like AR-15s are “ordinary.” He then explained that he’s tired of the “hyperbole” around these weapons because “facts matter.”
He’s absolutely right.
At the moment, there are a whopping 185,569 assault weapons registered with California in spite of its ban on them.

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom Reacts Furiously
Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom took the news of Benitez standing up for the Constitution very badly; the governor said it’s nothing more than a face slap to those who have lost people they love due to firearms.
Newsom may be interested to note that zero families have lost a loved one to an AR-15; they lost it to criminals and murders who sometimes use an AR-15.

What is it about Democrats and their absolute lack of basic logic and disregard for the Constitution?
This is all non-negotiable. Gun rights aren’t a “debate” or a discussion or a sliding scale. They’re constitutional rights, full stop.
It’s good to know that there’s at least one powerful person in California who understands that. Gun owners in California will be relieved to hear that all the anti-American restrictions and anti-firearm nonsense that’s been plaguing them for years will soon end.
