Former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton is a legend in her own mind.
She’s also worshipped by her followers and BlueAnon cult members who think she won the 2016 election and had it stolen from her by Vladimir Putin.
Clinton has put in a lot of effort to encourage that view, casting herself as the victim and complaining, accusing, undermining and spreading paranoid conspiracy theories whenever she gets the chance.
Now Clinton is issuing a serious warning that will have your jaw on the floor, saying there is a serious danger of misinformation spreading on social media and Big Tech and that there needs to be a “global reckoning” with misinformation.
The MAGA Right is ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Out of Bounds’
Speaking in a recent interview from her home in Chappaqua, New York, Clinton said the media is too “both sides” and should be calling out Republican Trump supporters for being extremists.
“They’ve got to rid themselves of both-sidesism. It is not the same to say something critical of somebody on the other side of the aisle and to instigate an attack on the Capitol and to vote against certifying the election,” Clinton said.
“Those are not comparable, and it goes back to the problem of the press actually coming to grips with how out of bounds and dangerous the new political philosophy on the right happens to be.”
Clinton says that getting the “truth” out there is going to take more than just honest media, it’s going to take Big Tech being reined in and more controlled. (As if they weren’t already pro-Democrat enough already).
“The technology platforms are so much more powerful than any organ of the so-called mainstream press, and I do think that there has to be not just an American reckoning but a global reckoning with the disinformation, with the monopolistic power and control, with the lack of accountability that the platforms currently enjoy,” she said.
“In particular Facebook, which has the worst track record for enabling mistruths, misinformation, extremism, conspiracy, for goodness’ sake, even genocide in Myanmar against the Rohingya. So governments are going to have to decide right now that the platforms have to be held to some kind of standard, and it’s tricky,” Clinton added.
Facebook banned Trump for saying, since November 2020, that the election was “stolen.” But Hillary Clinton, since November 2016, has said THE SAME THING. Why hasn’t Facebook banned for Clinton for peddling “The Big Lie” about her 2016 defeat?!? pic.twitter.com/rokrSovlEA

Clinton’s Right – But Not in the Way She Thinks
Clinton is actually correct, but not in the way she thinks. Big Tech does need to be stopped from spreading lies and censorship – against conservatives. The platforms that have been censoring, banning and allowing hate and violent threats against conservatives need to be taken to court and have their pants sued off.
Facebook made $28 billion in the last quarter of 2020 alone and has almost 3 billion users a month. It’s massively influential. And if it’s going to keep being allowed to ban Trump and ban conservatives then we are going to lose any sense of democracy or fair political debate.
President Trump focused a lot on CNN, the New York Times and other outlets calling them (correctly) the enemy of the people. Places like Twitter even censored critical reports of Hunter Biden during the 2020 election to help swing it in favor of Biden, showing the power of Big Tech to promote fake news instead of allowing real news in. But people like Clinton are, of course, shocked by Trump’s anger at the media.
“Once an American president said that the press was the enemy of the people, that gave permission to all kinds of autocrats to make the same claim. I don’t know any American president who’s ever thought he got fair press; they always believe that they are not understood, or they’re being held to impossible standards or whatever their complaints might be. But we never had a president who essentially aligned himself with authoritarian thinking and acting the way we did with our former president,” she said.
“It did do damage inside our own country, because it fed paranoia, conspiracy theories, partisan differences in our own political system that led many people to claim that the press was the enemy of the people, or at least the enemy of what they believed in,” Clinton added, saying it’s time to get a handle on Big Tech and bring them to heel.
“It’s not easily done. They’re incredibly powerful. But I don’t see any alternative if we’re going to try to deal with the very real dangers that disinformation and the divisiveness it breeds pose to our democracies,” Clinton said.
Exactly right, starting with her lies and distortions.
