Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022 and has now been ongoing for almost a year.
The United States and its NATO allies have been backing Ukraine, including shipping military equipment in the fight against Vladimir Putin’s forces.
Though Russia also has its fair share of support, including a network of pro-Russian countries from Venezuela to Iran and potential partners like China who like to play both sides.
Now, the US is lodging serious accusations against China that it is actively supplying Russia with help in its war in Ukraine.
What Are the Specific Accusations?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken alleged that China is providing “non-lethal” military help to Russia in its Ukraine war.
This may include everything from body armor, uniform production, and many other non-weapon-related help that boosts Russia’s ability to revitalize its depleted forces.
Blinken says this would have “serious consequences” if true; although US officials haven’t given detailed information about exactly what help China is providing.
Joe Biden and Blinken said right from the start that China should stay completely out of the war and if it started directly backing Russia, there would be a price to pay.
It appears the time has now come; arriving on the heels of China’s spy balloon campaign across America recently, there’s no doubt the situation is escalating.
Despite past talk about being partners with Ukraine, China has steadily repeated the Russian point of view on the Ukraine war and taken the anti-American position.

China is ‘Creeping’
According to Blinken, China hasn’t yet stepped over the “line” to providing actual deadly lethal force to Russia, but they’re “creeping” very close to it.
Blinken put China on notice that their increased involvement is being noted. Blinken also talked with top Chinese officials at the Munich Security Conference about this subject.
VP Kamala Harris also delivered remarks in Munich where she specifically talked about Russia and China’s growing closeness. Harris called the deepening Russia-China relationship “troubling” and said it needs to be rolled back.
The US has been bringing up the subject with allies, but at this point, China is clearly feeling pretty confident about pushing its luck.

What Happens Now?
Ever since the disastrous US pullout from Afghanistan, China has been lurking around every corner. They sense weakness in Joe Biden and want to take advantage of it.
They not only are getting closer to Afghanistan and deepening their power down through Pakistan, but China is also establishing warm water ports all around the world and backing America into a corner.
The fact they now are providing even more help to Russia shows that China is no longer scared of the United States.
What happens now depends a lot on American and NATO leadership, but the situation is tense, to say the least.
