Lord Fauci Announces At Least One More Year of Masks

White House Coronavirus Update Briefing by The White House is marked with CC PDM 1.0

If you’re like many Americans you’ve been wondering who elected Dr. Anthony Fauci as Lord of the Universe and when it happened.

The answer is never. The man is a public servant.

But so far since entering the public eye with the COVID-19 pandemic, Fauci has mainly distinguished himself by being a professional goalpost mover. He says one thing, then another, then another: and when you add them all up you get about 100 contradictions and half-truths.

From 15 days to slow the spread to 30 to a few years to 30 years? What are we looking at here?

According to Fauci even though vaccinations are proceeding quite quickly by now and infection rates are apparently going down, Americans will still have to wear masks probably until 2022.

Let’s Unpack This Logic

Masks haven’t worked well enough to stop almost 500,000 Americans from dying from a disease that almost only kills those who also have other serious illnesses but in order to stop the virus that mostly only kills sick people we need to keep wearing the masks that don’t work very well in the first place.

For another thing “masks” is very vague, since the scientific community agrees that anything less than an N95 mask does almost nothing to stop COVID.

What About the Vaccine?

We were told that the COVID vaccine would solve all our problems and end the pandemic. President Biden is working to get more Americans vaccinated with about 15 percent of the country now taken care of, however millions are waiting for their second dose and are technically still unvaccinated after only having the first shot.

It turns out that the vaccine isn’t proving to be quite the silver bullet that Fauci and Co. claimed. Now Fauci says that the approaching 500,000 death toll is “a terribly historic milestone in the history of this country.”

As for herd immunity? That elusive prize that always seems to be just around the corner? We’re still far off from that once again.

Then Fauci said it’s definitely “possible” Americans will still be wearing masks in 2022 although we can also expected a “significant degree of normality,” by then.

Aren’t you excited to get back to a “significant degree” of things being normal again? Me too.

More Shots on the Horizon?

According to Fauci people can also quite likely look forward to more shots coming up. Depending on the different virus mutations that are coming out from South Africa, Brazil and the UK, people may need more shots and boosters to keep protecting them.

“If in fact this becomes more dominant, we may have to get a version of the vaccine that is directed specifically against the South African isolate,” Fauci said, adding that the issue is currently being researched and looked into further.

So let’s recap:

You should wear masks probably for another year even though the masks aren’t effective in stopping COVID and you should get the shots even though the second shot isn’t available yet and probably won’t be effective at dealing with some of the new mutations that are rapidly becoming a big issue.

It might not be fair to blame Fauci for the information chaos that’s currently happening or all the contradictions that are happening as the data changes day by day, but it’s also not fair to let him off the hook completely.

He is the chief medical adviser to Biden and has served as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. That’s approaching four entire decades in which he could and should have been preparing for exactly the kind of scenario we are now in. And he’s proving to be a disaster, let’s be honest.
