Some people found the Magic Kingdom less magical. They were part of a 157-person sweep by Polk County in Florida. The sweep was part of a 5-day undercover police operation that targeted human trafficking and other crimes. Hurricane Milton shortened the operation’s duration.
A comprehensive undercover operation
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office launched Operation Autumn Sweep on October 2, 2024. The operation was designed to combat human trafficking and related crimes. 157 suspects were apprehended Sheriff Grady Judd praised the successful outcome, which revealed a widespread criminal network. The operation was critical in identifying those soliciting sex work and resulted in the arrest of individuals charged with drug and firearms offenses.
Notable arrests included people associated with reputable establishments such as Disney World, emphasizing the issue’s underlying complexities. One of the Disney World-related arrests involved a lifeguard at Disney’s Animation Resort. Brandon Orr, 28, told detectives that he posed as a girl to gain access to the victims’ homes.
Among the arrestees, 25 were discovered to be in the United States illegally, raising concerns about border control and immigration policy.

Arrests Span a Wide Range
Among those arrested were 96 people who had been soliciting prostitution. More pressing was the discovery of four potential human trafficking victims among 47 prostitutes, which shed light on the broader exploitation problem. At least three suspects were arrested and charged with attempting sexual exploitation of minors. These heinous crimes necessitate constant vigilance and strict action.
“Due to the approach of Hurricane Milton, we had to end our investigation earlier than planned.” – Grady Judd, Sheriff
The operation yielded 35 felony and 201 misdemeanor charges. The suspects’ collective criminal history revealed 327 felonies and 455 misdemeanors, demonstrating the pervasive criminal behavior confronted by law enforcement. A number of the suspects were under the age of 18. The eldest was in their sixties.
A Disney employee and over 150 others, including illegal immigrants, have been arrested in a major undercover human trafficking operation that also rescued four potential victims.

Operation Results and The Road Ahead
Travis Hutchinson, who was charged with forcing a victim into prostitution, was arrested as part of the 157-suspect roundup. The arrests of undocumented immigrants demonstrate that immigration controls remain a top priority. In his address, Sheriff Grady Judd emphasized the significant blow dealt to the criminal network despite the operation being called off due to inclement weather.
Operation Autumn Sweep has highlighted the importance of continued strong law enforcement efforts and public awareness in combating human trafficking and related crimes. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s decisive actions serve as a reminder that serious and comprehensive measures are required to protect the community from such widespread crimes.
The careful coordination between agencies not only secured significant arrests but also demonstrated the importance of a united stance in justice enforcement.
