According to the Democrats, Antifa is just an idea.
According to former President Trump, they’re terrorists.
Now we can see who was right about that judgment call. Despite playing nice under Trump and giving a free pass to Antifa to smash things up, shoot people and behave like psychotic lunatics, authorities are now closing in and are no longer playing around.
Antifa’s time of being allowed to run wild is quickly coming to an end.
That was clearly in evidence recently in Portland, Oregon, when a large group of Antifa agitators were confronted by police.
Cracking Down on Antifa
Portland police have had enough of Antifa going around smashing things and attacking people and kettled hundreds of them by surrounding them, then photographing each person involved in the violence and property damage and only releasing them after.
Thirteen Antifa extremists who refused to let cops take a photo of their face were arrested.
According to the Portland police, “those that were being detained were identified and photographed, as part of a criminal investigation, before being released. Some refused to comply and locked arms together in an effort to interfere with the investigation. Officers escorted them away and they were arrested.”
According to police they found a number of dangerous things around the area while searching including hammers, crowbars, knives, bear spray and high powered slingshots.
“As the event unfolded, groups formed on the outside and physically challenged officers. Some threw rocks and full cans of beer at officers. Officers deployed some OC spray and one impact munition.”
Thankfully the police use of kettling was successful in cornering the violent agitators and taking them down.

Antifa Needs to be Stopped
Places like Portland have seen far too much Antifa violence, especially damage against the courthouse and all over the city, especially in the Pearl district most recently. Using kettling to surround and trap the protesters was a game-changer and the limp-wristed Antifa communists didn’t know how to react. Some threw full bottles at police and rocks, others just helplessly waited to have their photo taken like the pathetic losers that they are.
The detaining of 100 of these violent goons and arrest of 13 is a good first step, but there’s lots more to be done.
Portland’s own mayor Ted Wheeler has been attacked by these lunatics despite giving them the benefit of the doubt for years, and it sounds like he’s also reached the end of his rope on tolerating their ridiculous antics.
Despite these positive developments on the local level, Biden’s Department of Justice is still giving a lot of free reign to Antifa and dropped more than a third of the cases against them from last summer when they went around burning America’s cities because they were supposedly upset about racism.
These include dropped charges of assaulting federal officers and more from last summer in Portland. Rioters did over $20 million in damage last summer in Portland and injured a number of officers. How incredible that the Biden Administration won’t hold anyone responsible.
There needs to be a clear line on Antifa and how to respond to them. Portland police who have to deal with them constantly understand the right response: a show of force and rapid, ruthless arrests to scare them back into their pot-smoke-filled basements full of Mao Zedong posters.
It’s time for the federal government to get the message too: no more free passes for Antifa. They can go straight to jail and learn a little bit about the real world while they’re at it.
