Machete Attacker FACES Murder Charges After Green Bay Rampage

A Nicaraguan national in the United States illegally faces two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide after attacking his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend with a machete inside a Green Bay home. David Joel Mairena-Garcia, 29, now sits in Brown County Jail on $750,000 cash bond with an active ICE hold.

Brutal Attack Leaves Two Hospitalized

Mairena-Garcia used a key to enter the woman’s residence on Edgewood Drive without warning. According to court documents, he immediately attacked a 23-year-old Green Bay man with a machete, striking him in the shoulder, forearm, and shin. He then turned on his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend, with whom he shares a child, inflicting lacerations to her hand and neck plus a head injury. The woman told investigators Mairena-Garcia had previously made multiple death threats by text message and in person.

Both victims managed to escape the residence during the assault. The male victim fled down the street while Mairena-Garcia pursued him with the machete before getting into his black SUV and driving away. Police used Flock camera technology to track the suspect’s vehicle and arrested him during a traffic stop shortly afterward. Mairena-Garcia directed officers to the location where he had discarded the machete after fleeing the scene.

Suspect Admits Homicidal Intent

During questioning, Mairena-Garcia told investigators he saw his former partner and another man in his bed, which caused him to lose control. He stated he blacked out from rage and admitted his only thought was wanting to kill both victims. Court records reveal Mairena-Garcia already had three guilty verdicts for operating without a valid driver’s license in Wisconsin, plus an open hit-and-run case at the time of the machete attack.

Immigration Status and Criminal History

Federal immigration authorities placed a detainer on Mairena-Garcia following his arrest. His presence in the country without legal authorization raises questions about prior enforcement actions and monitoring. The attack occurred in a residential neighborhood, and authorities have not disclosed whether the couple’s child was present during the violent incident. Law enforcement officials have not released updates on the victims’ medical conditions or recovery progress. The case highlights ongoing concerns about criminal activity among individuals residing in the United States illegally and the effectiveness of immigration enforcement protocols.

  1. So, despite thousands of ICE Agents and all the other DHS immigration people in Trump’s Administration they have FAILED to deport this man, while arresting, detaining, and killing hundreds or probably thousands of legal immigrants and U.S. Citizens!!!!!
Sounds to me like this DHS should be disbanded for dereliction of duty!!!!!!
