Security forces tackled an anti-Amazon protester who breached multiple barriers at the Met Gala 2026 on Monday night, coming within 20 feet of celebrities Tom Ford and Julianne Moore as the designer shielded the actress from potential danger.
Protester Breaches Security at Elite Event
The incident unfolded across from the Metropolitan Museum entrance when an individual believed to be protesting Amazon labor practices forced his way through crowds of fans and media personnel. The protester vaulted over the first steel barrier on the east side of Fifth Avenue, sprinted through oncoming traffic near Central Park, and cleared a second barrier before nearly a dozen police officers subdued him. Eyewitnesses reported Ford immediately wrapped his arms around Moore to protect her as the chaos erupted on the red carpet.
Actor Connor Storrie from the series Heated Rivalry was also present on the red carpet during the security breach. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had not yet appeared on the carpet when the protester made his attempt, though his wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos had walked the red carpet over an hour earlier and was already inside the venue. Police arrested and removed the protester from the scene. Representatives for Moore and Ford declined to comment on the incident.
