Savannah Guthrie EXITS Today Show Mid-Broadcast — Mystery…

Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie abruptly left the NBC morning program halfway through Wednesday’s broadcast for an undisclosed appointment, returning Thursday without explanation as her mother’s disappearance stretches toward 100 days.

Mystery Departure Raises Questions

Co-host Craig Melvin informed viewers 90 minutes into Wednesday’s show that Guthrie had departed early. “Savannah had to leave a little early,” Melvin told the audience. “She’ll be right back tomorrow, though.” A source confirmed to Page Six that the 54-year-old anchor left for an appointment unrelated to her missing mother. When Guthrie returned Thursday morning beside fill-in co-host Willie Geist, she made no mention of her sudden exit, instead discussing the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series.

The anchor appeared upbeat Thursday morning, quoting her favorite film and expressing excitement about the Amazon Prime series Elle, set to premiere in July. Geist noted her unusual giddiness, calling her the show’s “chief Legally Blonde correspondent.” Guthrie made no reference to her Wednesday absence during the broadcast, maintaining her characteristic professional demeanor despite ongoing family turmoil.

Mother Missing Nearly 100 Days

Guthrie’s unexplained departure comes as authorities continue searching for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home on January 31. Police discovered blood near the front door and found the back door left open, leading investigators to suspect kidnapping. The anchor took a two-month hiatus from the Today Show following her mother’s disappearance, returning to the broadcast on April 6.

Returning to Normal Amid Crisis

In a recent interview with former co-host Hoda Kotb, Guthrie explained her difficult decision to return to work while her mother remains missing. “I can’t come back and try to be something I’m not, but I can’t not come back because it’s my family,” she said. The veteran journalist emphasized that her joy would be genuine when she smiled, calling it her “protest” and “answer” to the tragedy. She acknowledged the challenge of returning to a workplace known for joy and lightness while facing such personal devastation, but stated that being there serves as part of her purpose during this difficult time.

  1. She should stop picking one party to support and attacking DJT. half of all Americans citizens saw how one sided she is. News should not be democrat or republican but she was not bipartisan. Fire her and never let her broadcast again.
